About me
I am Carol, a primary school teacher who has been “messing
about with puppets” ever since I was introduced to them at
school. I
have studied puppetry as a theatre art and have researched
the role of puppetry in education.
I created a “Punch
and Judy” show in 1977 and have been performing it ever since
at parties, fetes and in schools to support the KS1 “seaside”
humanities module.
I love being able to retell stories, especially
Bible stories, through the medium of puppetry, to which the
children can easily relate.
I have attended my local Catholic
Church for more than 20 years but have been involved in all
areas of children’s ministry in different churches. I have
used puppets to help children to identify more deeply with
different Bible stories or religious issues.
I have
also used puppets with Brownies, holiday clubs, religious
conferences and many other children’s activities, as well
as extensively in the classroom to support the curriculum.
I
love to witness children’s self-confidence increase when
they perform their own puppet shows, either from ready-made
puppets, or from puppets they have made themselves.
I have
made all the puppets myself mostly from recycled materials.
The theatre has been specifically built for the puppets,
again, from recycled materials. |
